Meaningful activity..

ytd, my trainer did a quite meaningful activity with us..if you guys are interested, can scroll down and do likewise.. =)

1st: we tore strips of paper.

2nd: on each strip of paper, we wrote down 1 role we are playing now. eg: daughter, teacher, etc

3rd: Among all the strips, choose a role that we dislike most. "Throw" that strip of paper out in the middle of the table.

4th: Next, among all the strips, we are supposed to "throw" out all the other strips and must be left with only a role that we love most.

5th: A time of sharing. of cos only for those who feel comfortable to share. =)

I shall keep what i choose to myself..haha..until i feel comfortable enuff to share lah..haha!!

as my coursemates are mostly betw the age range of 40-60..the role they held on most if the role of "mother"..i tot that is very touching..one of my coursemate shared that she chose "mother" becos she really loves her 2 daughters..she "threw" her husband out!!LOL!!of cos not that she dun love her husband..but if she can only choose a role to play, she will choose to be a mother..not only her ba..all the married ladies with children in my class chose "mother"..well..motherly instinct..my trainer said that there are no man in my class..according to her past lessons with other classes, most married men held on to the role of "husband"..oh man..touching sia..

i tot this is a very meaningful activity as it allow us to reflect on our different roles in our life..for the one that we "throw" out, how can we change to make the situation better?or how can we change so that we can look upon this role as a positive one?For the one that we hold on, i think it wld be great to share with the ppl involved..for eg: if we chose "daughter", then we can tell our parents that if there is only one role that i can play in the world, i wld want to be your daughter..i think that wld be a very sweet thing!!nad im very sure that the other person wld be super touched and wld feel appreciated!! =)

got a new student in my class..a very bright and obedient boy..got to know that he is living with his mum now..divorce case..cos his dad often beat up his mum whenever he is angry in front of him..he witness everything since he was young..now he is in P2..got to know from the social worker that there was once, he was angry with his sister..he ended up messing up the whole hse and threw things around, hit his helper and siblings..when the social worker arrived at his hse, it was alrdy in a mess..the next day, he wrote a note to his mum saying that he was very sorry for what he did and he knew that it is wrong to do that, but he cant control himself..sigh..now he is undergoing counselling and some anger managemt sessions..i really hope that he will be better..so now, i got to know abt his background, i will let him off slightly earlier from homework time to play with the rest of the kids..to build up his self-esteem and social skills..the social worker said that he needs more TLC(Tender loving care) than the others..im taking note of that now..when it is homework time, my tone is firm but gentle towards him.not that im not gentle with other kids..haha..they are tougher, so dun need to be so gentle lah..just normal loh..haha!!

in this line for 1 year and 2 months alrdy, there are times when i feel directionless..doing the routine work..shower/lunch time, fetching the kids to and from sch, homework time, activity time, etc..so much so that i feel quite purposeless..whenever i feel that way, i wld take time off, stay at home and remind myself why im doing what im doing..what is my vision in this job..ultimately, my vision is to impact their lives positively..i know im definitely not someone who wld want to just work thru the routine, get the money and thats it..there must be a purpose in what im doing..and of cos, i will have to count the cost for THE cause..haha..those who work in my area know that our salary is not much..LOL..but im fulfilled and i have the sense of satisfaction in my job..weighing the sense of satisfaction and meagre salary, i put more value in the former..cos im investing in children's lives and having plenty of opportunities to make their life a little brighter!!of cos i did and will screw things up sometimes, thats how we learn so that next time we can do it better!!if i have a job with no/low sense of satisfaction and high/ok salary, i dun think i can last this long..and the best thing in my centre is the kids are allowed to be exposed to christian values and bible stories!!seeds of faith are and will be sown!!YEAH!! =)

I love my centre, my kids and my super nice SUPERvisor!!haha!!

PS: My computer(for uploading pictures) broke down!!ppl pls bear with me!!as soon as the new computer arrives, i will upload the pictures!! =)
