If God is merciful, why did He create hell?

wah..a quest i asked my ex tutor when i was in pri 2 or 3 before i received Christ..today, Pastor Rony gave a sermon on this..

firstly, all religions talked abt hell.. just that how hell looks like and the details are diff..but we all know that it is a undesirable place..

secondly, be it we believe or like it or not.. hell will still be there.. we dun like or dun believe in hell does not make it go away or make it absent.. it is just like saying "i dun like carbon dioxide and i dun believe it exist"..it is the same thing.. so lets just accept the truth..

thirdly, hell is not created for humans.. it was created for satan and his cohort.. they faced spiritual death (eternal separation from God).. we can make a choice not to go there..of cos..only when we have the Redeemer of our sins..

but hey!we dun have to be focus on hell..in fact, we shld focus on the best place call "Heaven".. we all know that heaven is above and hell is below..nobody wld say "Heaven" and point downwards.. neither would anyone say "Hell" and point upwards rite? "God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more, neither shall there be anguish (sorrow and mourning) nor grief nor pain any more, for the old conditions and the former order of things have passed away." - revelation 21:4 there is a hell for us to shun and a heaven for us to gain.. the upper "H" or the lower "H"..the choice is for us to make..

sometimes i wonder how come ppl only questions abt what they think badly abt God.. the above quest is an example of it..how come i din hear of ppl questioning --> "Why did God create Heaven?" things that we dun like, we question God..but regarding things that we like, we dun question..strange rite?

heh..ok..back to quest..it is precisely because God is merciful, thats why He sent His only Son (Jesus Christ = God the Son) to die for us on the Cross.. He is not obligated to do that and He dun have to do that.. He cld jolly well just let us join satan in the lake of fire and we will forever remained there.. He dun have to bother abt us.. after all, He is God and He is in Heaven..He can just enjoy Himself with the heavenly host up there.. BUT Jesus chose to clothe Himself in frail humanity, taking up the Cross and bearing all our sins and sicknesses.. sharp and big nails were pierced thru His hands and feet..and suffered 39 straps on His back..insulted and humiliated by the roman soldiers..

when He was on the Cross, He cld just get help from our Father in Heaven and angels will be sent down to rescue Him and the angels cld just struck those soldiers dead.. BUT He din.. why? Becos of a very simple truth.. too simple until some ppl cld not accept it.. becos Jesus loves you.. Jesus loves me and all of us.. He breathed His last and even before His death.. He prayed, " Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. " Jesus was praying to our Father to forgive those roman soldiers of what they did because they dunno what they are doing.. i mean.. if i was the one on the cross, i wld really pray for help and let the angels rescue me and them strike the soldiers dead.. how easy that wld be rite?? oh..thank God that im not God.. if not, all of us wld not have a 2nd chance..haha..this shows me Jesus' love and compassion for us all..

A man, lets name him john..haha..was married to a christian lady..so he followed his wife and went to church every sunday..worship time, he will not sing..he will just fold his arms..sermon time he will slp..he was not interested in the service at all..

after many mths of going to church, he was still the same.. no change..no sermons seem to convict him of anything..

then one day while he was still standing up with his arms folded, he felt someone tugging his shirt..he looked down and saw a little girl..

John asked, "What do you want?"

The girl replied, "Sir, do you want to go to Heaven?"

John gave a very fierce look and replied curtly, "NO."

The little girl, in a very sweet and gentle voice, said, "Then you surely would want to go hell."

John was shocked and was deeply convicted by this very simple yet profound statemt!!He went to the altar and receive Jesus into His heart..the whole church knows that this guy is a hard nut to crack and they were astonished to see him at the altar..

after the prayer, the pastor walked towards john proudly and said, "So which part of my message convicted you?"

John replied, "None!!i was convicted by a little girl's simple yet profound truth!!"

yup..it is either up or down..no other ways..even a little girl knows that..so ppl.. do you all want to go Heaven?
